This Associated Press story was a preview of President Barack Obama’s speech to the Islamic world. The story appeared in the June 4 edition of the Wisconsin State Journal.
Details
The story, as it ran on the news wire, was about 1,100 words. I wanted to include this great picture of Obama receiving the ornate necklace, and I thought it was important to mention al-Qaida’s response to the speech. My solution was to edit the main story to about 160 words and to restore some story details in the breakout box and photo caption. The result is a story package with two entry points that contain unique and supporting information.
